Unusual Gorham Martele Art Nouveau sterling silver, gilt bowl. Martele was a limited production line of the finest silver produced by Gorham from the 1890′s until the 1930′s. All pieces are handmade and are therefore unique. This is a very rare piece of original silver-gilt Martele produced in 1899 and hand chased by William Fisher. It features a vine and foliate design in the art nouveau style and sits on four repousse feet. Stunning gold wash, with some spots of light wear. Measures 8 1/2″ in diameter, stands 2″ tall and weighs 16.25 oz. Excellent overall condition, with early Martele hallmarks.
